Description of defect

(1) Due to some inappropriate ignition timing control programmes (engine ECU) in the low idle speed range, idle speed may become unstable and in the worst case, the engine may stall. However, restarting is possible.

(2) Insufficient smoldering resistance of the spark plugs at prolonged idle may result in momentary idle speed drop, causing the engine to stall in the worst case scenario. However, restarting is possible.

Improvement details

(1) The engine ECU programme is to be update to a countermeasure.
(2) Replace the spark plug with a 2-pole semi-creeping plug.
