Outlander – Select lever stuck in parking position

Replace the parking position detection switch with a countermeasure

Description of defect

In the shift lock mechanism of automatic transmissions, the contact structure of the switch that detects the parking position of the selector lever is inappropriate, and volatile gases emitted from the grease used in the selector cable may cause oxides to accumulate on the contact surface.

As a result, the electrical resistance of the contact point may increase, resulting in poor continuity, and the selector lever may not be able to move from the parking position.

The selector lever can still be operated by pressing and holding the shift lock release button located near the selector lever.
For details on how to release the shift lock, see the operating instructions.
