Description of Defect
Mazda2 – Engine warning light on
When the engine is driven at low ambient temperatures, water in the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) gas may condense and accumulate in the intake manifold. If the accelerator pedal is operated at high engine speeds during this condition, an increase in the intake air volume may cause water to be sucked into the combustion chamber, resulting in the engine ignition and the engine warning light illuminating, and the fail-safe control may also cause acceleration problems. The fail-safe control will be cancelled when the engine is stopped and restarted.
Improvement Details
All vehicles will be rewritten with an engine control programme that changes the EGR operating area in order to prevent condensation of moisture in the EGR gas.
