Rewriting the engine control programme
Details of the defect
(1) On vehicles equipped with the idling stop system (i-stop), there is a risk that the engine may not restart automatically when the driver steps on the brake to stop the vehicle, stops idling and then tries to start again due to an incorrect programme in the engine control computer. Restarting with the ignition key is possible.
(2) On vehicles equipped with variable valve timing (VVT), due to improper programming of the engine control computer, the VVT may not return from the slowest angle position, causing the engine warning light to illuminate and engine output to drop, resulting in poor acceleration.
Improvement details
(1) All vehicles will have the engine control programme rewritten.
(2) All vehicles will have the engine control programme rewritten. However, if the VVT does not operate, it will be replaced with a new one.
