Odyssey – Steering wheel operation is heavy

Replace the power steering pump with a countermeasure

Description of defect

Due to a crack inside the oil pump of the power steering system caused by a casting defect, when maximum hydraulic pressure is applied at extremely low speeds, such as when entering a garage, the crack may expand and pressure may leak from the high pressure oil channel to the low pressure oil channel.

This may result in insufficient power assist and increased steering wheel operating force during stationary cutting.

However, during normal driving, there is no problem with steering wheel operation as appropriate power assist is provided.

Improvement details

Replace the power steering pump with a countermeasure.
