Recommended Repairs with This Type 2 Kit
- Includes serviceable internal seals and O-rings for internal rack repair
- Includes a spare cylinder end cover assembly in case of thread damage during disassembly
- Allows cleaning and inspection of internal components during disassembly
- Helps reduce leaks, noise, and heavy steering when internal components are intact
- This Repair Kit Type 2 is intended for internal rack service only. Rack boots are serviced separately.
Why Are Rack Boots Not Included with This Type 2 Repair Kit?
In some cases, vehicles may be equipped with NISMO or other aftermarket tie rods (L/R), and rack boots may be replaced at the same time depending on the setup.
To avoid unnecessary duplication and additional cost, rack boots are intentionally not included in this Repair Kit Type 2.
This allows customers to:
- Reuse existing boots where applicable
- Install brand-new boots of their choice during the repair
- Avoid paying for parts they do not need
If you are looking for a repair kit that includes rack boots, please consider Repair Kit Type 4.
Why Type 2 Includes a Spare Cylinder End Cover Assembly
- When removing the end cover assembly, it is necessary to drill out the staked portion at the end of the gear housing using a 3.0 mm drill bit.
If the staking has not been completely removed, there is a possibility that the threads of the end cover may be damaged when loosening the end cover assembly.
For this reason, a spare end cover assembly is included in Repair Kit Type 2 and Repair Kit Type 4.
If you do not require a spare end cover assembly, please select Repair Kit Type 1 or Repair Kit Type 3 when placing your order.

Important Notice
- Some internal rack components are discontinued. If internal wear or damage is found, this repair kit cannot address those issues.
- In particular, the rear housing bearing seal is not available as an individual service part.
If the bearing or seal is damaged, replacement of the rear housing assembly is required, however this assembly has been discontinued.
